Hypnosis or Hypnotherapy what is it?

Hypnosis phenomena is a totally natural state of mind and we do it every day many times. The word 'hypnosis’ is derived from a greek word for sleep and the name hypnosis was given by James Braid who was a Scottish physician in the 1850s. Hypnosis has come a very long way since then for helping many different problems from limb phobis cure to amputation. Have you ever been in a trance? Yes, of course you have many call it day dreaming or staring into space. Have you ever gone on a car journey and realized you could hardly remember any of the details of the journey. You was probably in a trance like state, albeit being completely in control at the same time. You have two minds one is referred to as the conscious mind and the other one is your subconscious mind. When you’re in hypnosis a hypnotist can talk to your unconscious (subconscious) mind and give suggestions which are for the better good of the client. These suggestions are then compounded to your subconscious and will have a long lasting and positive effect as they stay inside the subconscious where they become empowering to the client.

Hypnosis is a desired state of relaxation and provides a wonderful healing platform for the mind and body. It is a shame that many people think that when they are in hypnosis they are out of control and can be programmed to do outrageous or stupid things. This is totally untrue as when you are under hypnosis you’re in total control and know everything that is going on all the time and hear everything that is going on around you. Anything suggested that is against your core beliefs or morals will bring you straight out of hypnosis and back to full alertness.

Lets take stage hypnotists for example you will have seen them on TV as there are many of them and most are very good at illusions and getting members of the audience performing many great and amazing things in front of the big TV audience. In fact they have chosen their subjects carefully and selected people who are highly suggestive and fun people who enjoy having a laugh or being the joker at the party in the real world anyway. The people actually want to be fun and think they are superman or cluck like a chicken. If you’re not that type of person you would not even do it. If someone has low morals or is just a scream party person they would be a great subject to hypnotise for the stage hypnotist. It is said that the famous Mesmer originally picked up the this training art of hypnosis from a street performer and brought it to the medical world and now it is usually routinely to cure people.

How Hypnosis Works ?

Hypnosis allows you to access your subconscious mind, the most powerful aspect of your brain. Hypnosis helps you make desirable, lasting changes in your life by reprogramming your thought patterns and habits. Contrary to popular beliefs, you are not unconscious when in a hypnotic state. Hypnosis is a natural state of the mind that is between the aware state and sleep. Have you ever been on a long drive and without realizing, your mind wanders and you arrive at your destination without being conscious of every turn you made? Well this is similar to the hypnotic state. Hypnosis communicates with your subconscious mind which accounts for 90% of the brain. This is the part of your brain that stores all memory and where habits are established. The subconscious mind sees in pictures, so the more detailed your picture is of your end goal, the faster your subconscious mind will create the new idea and then your conscious level of thinking automatically accepts it.

Hypnosis is completely relaxing and you are aware and in control throughout the session. Hypnosis gives you freedom of

choice, helping you connect with your subconscious mind, and puts you in more control, something you probably haven't had in many years! So, how does hypnosis work? Well, the majority of people see hypnosis as a last resort to quitting smoking or losing weight. But hypnosis is actually, a dynamic and vital healing process in all aspects of mental health care. Hypnosis focuses on finding the origin of a person’s issues. Through the process of hypnosis the unconscious mind goes to the original cause, which in turn allows the person and hypnotherapist to work through the feelings around the cause. These feelings can then be healed and allow people to live their life as they want.
